You are planning to pay for a piece of software.

You are planning to pay for a piece of software. The software will help you improve your productivity but needs access to all your financial details. As you can imagine, the consequences of bugs in the software are quite significant. The software developer who has written the code assures you that he has tested everything and it is bug free.  In fact he shares a list of bugs that he found personally and has fixed. 

Would you trust him?
or would you prefer someone who hasn’t written the piece of software to find the bugs.

You are planning to take possession of a house that you are going to live in

This will be the most expensive asset that you have ever purchased.  The builder assures you that there are no issues with the house and its a perfect house. The builder gives you a list of checks that he has performed. 

Would you trust him?
Or would you prefer someone else to validate the quality of the house? Someone who hasn’t built the house but is qualified to perform the checks.
