- Cementitious Waterproofing – easiest method of waterproofing in construction, often used in the internal wet areas such as toilets. This method is usually a rigid or semi-flexible type waterproofing wherein cementitious materials provide the tensile strength, and polymers improve elastic and adhesion properties. This makes the coating elastic and prevents water ingress. Since it is used in internal areas, it is not exposed to sunlight & weathering and hence, does not go through the contract and expansion process.
- Polyurethane Waterproofing – are high performance, versatile membranes which are acrylic based, providing excellent flexibility, high durability and good finish. Initially a dry and clean surface is prepared for its application and then the membrane is spread over the area.
- PVC Membrane Waterproofing – PVC membrane is a roofing material, made of high quality flexible (plasticized) polyvinyl chloride. There are reinforced & unreinforced membranes, depending on the area of application.
- Reinforced waterproofing is used for roofs since the membrane has a reinforcing base in the form of polyester mesh or fiberglass.
- Unreinforced membranes are flexible, and have a high tear resistance and hence used for waterproofing of underground structures, tunnels, swimming pools and so on.
- Bituminous Membrane Waterproofing – in this, the membranes are unfolded at the site & laid firmly on the surface with tar based adhesives using blowtorches. A layer of bituminous waterproof membrane is laid over the structural roof which acts as a shield against water seepage on the roof
